Kristin has been in love
with fabric, journaling
and creativity since she
was a tiny girl. Her
passion for this self-
expression led her to the
quilt world where she's
created, designed, taught
and written about quilts
nationally for 30 years.
In her books, A Southern
Album and most recently, At Piece with Time: a Woman's Journey Stitched in Cloth, Kristin encourages other women to celebrate their unique story by documenting it in cloth.
For the last 8 years, Kristin has been absorbed in the “altered” world. She finds visual journaling exactly what she's been looking for, allowing her to use her beloved fabric in both book and journal formats. Her work is featured in The Art of Fabric Books and in Altered Board Books and Beyond, both by Jan Smiley. Her art graced the cover of the Spring 2006 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, and has been featured in numerous issues of Sew Somerset. She taught at the amazing Artfest and at Artfiberfest in both 2006 and 2007. She taught at Oxford Summer School in England in 2007 and 2008, and has been invited to return in 2009. She taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School in 2008 and will return in 2009.
Kristin adores anything to do with the creative process. Her most earnest wish is that we each uncover the genuine creative genius residing deep within, then give it life through our work.
